The floor that can handle the mud season.

In Ohio, a floor earns its keep in the first six months. Kids come in from soccer practice in January, dogs shake off rain in October, basements breathe moisture year-round, and kitchens take a mop four times a week. LVT is the category that actually holds up to all of it — it's fully waterproof, dent-resistant with SPC rigid-core, and prints good enough that the hardwood look reads real from two feet away. For kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and mudrooms it's the floor we recommend nine times out of ten.

Laminate still has a place — and in the right room it's the smarter buy. It's water-resistant but not waterproof, which means dry-climate rooms (bedrooms, upstairs halls, living rooms) where you're not mopping or risking a leak get a beautiful hardwood-look floor at a lower price per square foot than LVT. The trick is matching the product to the room. That's what Natasha does in the showroom — walks you through which plank goes where, what handles the Ohio winter, and where you can save without losing life. Underlayment, transition strips, and quarter-round all included in the quote, no surprise line items.

From the showroom floor to the click-lock install.

Four steps. Buddy and Natasha handle them all — no subcontractors, no hand-offs.

01

Showroom selection

Come by 55 W. High Street in London. Natasha walks you through the wall of current samples — LVT, LVP, SPC, laminate, luxury tile — and helps you narrow it to the few planks that fit the room, the budget, and the traffic pattern you've got at home. Bring pictures of the space if you can. Coffee's on.

02

Natasha measures + subfloor check

Natasha comes to the house, pulls room measurements, and checks the subfloor — moisture meter on concrete, flatness check on plywood, transitions on any doorway you're crossing. If there's a prep step we need (leveler, moisture barrier, underlayment), she catches it now so it's on the quote, not a change order.

03

Quote + scheduling

You get a written quote that spells out the product, the subfloor prep, the install method (click-lock or glue-down), all trim and transition pieces, and the workmanship warranty. No dealer codes, no fine print. Pick a date and Buddy locks the calendar. Most LVT jobs land within 2–3 weeks of the quote.

04

Install (click-lock or glue-down)

Buddy installs every job himself. Click-lock for most residential rooms — planks snap together over underlayment, no glue, minimal downtime. Glue-down for commercial spaces, heavy-traffic areas, and any basement where we want the extra adhesion. Most rooms done in a day, a full floor in 2–3. We clean up behind ourselves.

Three reasons LVT wins the busy rooms.

Laminate still has a place — but when the room gets wet, active, or kid-and-dog heavy, LVT is the call every time.

Waterproof

LVT is the real thing — spill a glass, mop it twice a week, park a wet mudroom boot on it in January. The plank itself doesn't swell or warp. Laminate is water-resistant only: fine for dry rooms, not for kitchens or basements where standing water is a "when" not an "if."

Pet & Kid Proof

SPC rigid-core LVT shrugs off dog nails, dropped toys, dragged chairs, and muddy shoes in a way softer surfaces can't. The wear layer is measured in mils — we carry 12-mil and 20-mil options depending on how rough your house actually plays. Cleans with a damp mop, no special products.

Looks Like Hardwood

At a fraction of the cost. Modern LVT print and emboss tech is close enough to real wood that guests don't clock it from across the room. Same oak, walnut, and hickory looks — without the refinish cycles, without the moisture restrictions, and usually at less than half the installed cost of real hardwood.

From meeting Buddy with samples at our house to the final product it has been a 5-star experience. The carpet and LVP looks amazing and our family is now enjoying it! Thank you for all the great work!

Answers from Natasha.

LVT vs laminate — what's the difference?

The big one is water. LVT (luxury vinyl tile) and LVP (luxury vinyl plank) are waterproof — you can spill, mop, or flood the room and the flooring itself won't warp. Laminate is water-resistant, not waterproof: it handles spills if you wipe them up, but standing water will swell the core and ruin the planks. For kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and mudrooms we recommend LVT. For bedrooms, living rooms, and upstairs hallways laminate is often the better value.

Can LVT go over concrete?

Yes. LVT over concrete is one of our most common installs in Ohio basements. The key is a moisture barrier — concrete wicks moisture from the ground year-round, and without a barrier you'll trap it under the vinyl. We check slab moisture with a meter on day one and roll out a 6-mil barrier before the first plank clicks in. Floor has to be flat too, so any low spots get filled with self-leveler before install.

How long does LVT installation take?

1 to 3 days for most residential jobs. A single kitchen or mudroom is typically a one-day install. Full basement or a whole first floor usually lands at 2–3 days depending on square footage, subfloor prep, and whether we're tearing out old carpet or tile first. Buddy will give you a real date the day we write the quote.

Can I install LVT myself?

Yes — and we make it easy with cash-and-carry. Come by the showroom at 55 W. High Street, bring your room measurements (or text them to Natasha), and she'll pull the right product in the right quantity including underlayment, transition strips, and trim. Modern click-lock LVT is one of the most DIY-friendly floors out there.
